Extreme Close up shot - This shot is used to illustrate the details of Betty’s facial features, her facial expression expresses that she doesn’t like to be upon a spotlight, as she is conscious about her personal appearance in her character of Ugly Betty. The empahsis on her face, shows the audience that she does have beauty hidden behind her olden glasses and her braces and the spotlight helps to demonstrate this. This point relates to the whole point of Ugly Betty, that there is more to beauty than being perfect.

Mid Shot - This shot signifies Betty’s role in the business, the appearance of her compared to others around her, immediately the colours used in her outfit stands out from others especially her ‘boss’ Daniel. The shot’s main aim is to centralise the main characters, which is Betty and Daniel, their relationship is signified immediately, as it shows that Betty is following Daniel around.
Long Shot - The use of a long shot show the status in which each character has in the company, it is clearly shown that Willimeana is much more superior compared to Mark, as she over shadows him whilst his expression shows that he admires her as he watches her walk back and forth. The lighting is fixed on Willimeana as she is the key character in this shot, therefore she casts a shadow upon Mark, and this is also another effect to show the comparison between them. The layout of the office illustrate the living of the people who work there, and the benefits they have, which links in with the fashion world of Ugly Betty.
Over the shoulder shot - The over the shoulder shot shows the silhouette of Betty, which portrays her position in the office, which is taking orders. By Daniel standing behind the desk shows that he is the boss, and he is more superior in all ways compared to Betty. The shot out of the window establishes the setting of the episode to be in the city, which suggests a busy life style for Betty as she is out of the ordinary; it means that things may be more difficult for her in such an occupation.
